Sunday Wrap-up: Patriots, Moss and Brady inch closer to the records
With their victory over the Dolphins yesterday, the Patriots are now one win from reaching that undefeated mark. One game!!! Tom Brady is two touchdowns from breaking Peyton Manning's single season record of 49, while Randy Moss is two scores from breaking Jerry Rice's single season record of 22 grabs. If all of these records are broken in that last game, that will be pretty badass, I must say.
But let's get to the real stuff here...fantasy football league championships. Did you win? While there's still one game left this week, with pretty big fantasy football implications, you probably have a pretty good idea where you stand right now. For example, in one of my league's I need Brandon Marshall to outscore Antonio Gates by about 40 points, so that's probably NOT going to happen, but I can always hope! Anyways, congratulations if you're poised to be taking home the trophy this season. We can only hope that some advice from this site helped you get there. Let's give a final recap of the key player performances that may have helped you get there...or may have prevented you from achieving greatness...
Quarterbacks
Kurt Warner (ARI): 361 passing yards, 3 TD
Father time just keeps getting it done
Peyton Manning (IND): 311 passing yards, 3 TD
Maybe he could donate some of his touchdown passes to his brother
Donovan McNabb (PHI): 263 passing yards, 37 rushing yards, 3 TD, 1 Fumble
Do they really want to get McNabb out of Philly next year?
Ben Roethlisberger (PIT): 261 passing yards, 11 rushing yards, 3 TD
Another great game for Big Ben in what has been a spectacular year for him
Tarvaris Jackson (MIN): 220 passing yards, 44 rushing yards, 3 TD (1 pass, 2 rush), 2 INT
The Vikings are so one dimensional that even the quarterback is better at running than he is at passing
Running Backs
Najeh Davenport (PIT): 123 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 44 receiving yards, 1 TD (1 rush, 1 receive)
Curses to Parker's broken leg!
Brandon Jacobs (NYG): 145 rushing yards, 1 reception, 6 receiving yards, 2 TD
One half of the two headed G-Men rushing game that went hog wild
Clinton Portis (WAS): 15 passing yards, 76 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 48 receiving yards, 2 TD (1 pass, 1 rush)
Gotta love the running back passing score...straight out of the LT play book
Laurence Maroney (NE): 156 rushing yards, 1 TD
Props to Maroney...finally he's showing his true stuff
Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG): 151 rushing yards, 1 TD
How deep are the Giants at running back? Honestly. Who is this guy?
Wide Receivers
Anquan Boldin (ARI): 13 receptions, 162 receiving yards, 2 TD
The big benefactor from Warner's big game
Jericho Cotchery (NYJ): 8 receptions, 152 receiving yards, 1 TD
Big game for the Crotch Rocket
Steve Smith (CAR): 9 receptions, 137 receiving yards, 1 TD
Do the Panthers finally have a QB that realizes that one of the best receivers in the NFL is on the team (this season at least)?
Reggie Wayne (IND): 10 receptions, 143 receiving yards, 1 TD
Pretty standard stuff here
Laurent Robinson (ATL): 7 receptions, 114 receiving yards, 1 TD
Who? How? Just a few questions you might be asking yourself here
Tight Ends
Dallas Clark (IND): 15 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 60 receiving yards, 2 TD
The big man even got some rushing yards in this one...not too bad
Jerramy Stevens (TB): 4 receptions, 73 receiving yards, 2 TD
Where'd Stevens come from? I thought his career was in the dumper at this point
Tony Gonzalez (KC): 10 receptions, 137 receiving yards
Showing that he's deserving of that Pro Bowl nomination
Defense and Kickers
Chicago: 7 points allowed, 1 sack, 2 INT, 2 TD, 2 blocked kicks
Now this is the Bears defense we are used to...but what happened to Green Bay?!
Martin Gramatica (NO): 3 field goals, 2 PAT
14 points in some formats...not that spectacular, but better than the rest
