Hits and Misses - Week 15: Time for an encore

In most of my leagues, week 15 means we're two games away from a 2008 fantasy football championship, so the hits and misses this week are magnified dramatically. In some twist of fate, neither of my best fantasy teams were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs this year, meaning I'm right there with you in using my own advice to get to the next round.

Hits and Misses - Week 10: "Purple Jesus" ready to roll at home

It's pretty amazing the luck (of the bad variety) that I've had so far this season with my feature "hit" picks, the latest victim being my own personal favorite, the man who shares my name and plays receiver for the Denver Broncos, Mr. Brandon Marshall (two catches for 27 yards?!!) However, I did end up the week with a decent 13-7-5* record on the big days of quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Kurt Warner, plus the misfortunes of Bills running back Marshawn Lynch and a few others (even if Marshall, Clinton Portis' big day receiving, and Kyle Orton's injury all tried to screw me!)

Hits and Misses - Week 9: Brandon Marshall ready to hand out tricks and treats

To all of our devoted readers (and those who just stopped by for their first time), Happy Halloween! Make sure to go out and get some good candy (not the crappy kind that you hated getting as a kid!) to pass out to the kids tonight...or risk having to clean up toilet paper and shaving cream up in the morning.

Week 7 Weekend Wrap-up: Running backs gone wild!

After staying up late to watch my favorite baseball team lose to the Tampa Bay Rays (!) last night, I'm not sure I'll be able to handle staying up for what will most likely be a disaster of a game tonight when the Fantasy Football Librarian's boys from Denver come into Gillette Stadium to take on the Patriots...but I'll give it a shot. The good news is that even though the Sox are done and the Pats chances tonight are not all that promising, the fantasy football gods seemed to shine down on me this week and I should pull off some solid victories in most of my leagues (although the fact that Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall having huge games against New England would help many of my teams causes quite the personal conflict!), including a potential victory in which I idiotically started Larry Fitzgerald on a bye. Anyways, enough of my rambling about New England sports and my fantasy teams, let's get to the action from the weekend that caused my good fortunes, including a few running backs gone wild!

Top 25 fantasy football players after three weeks

Now that the first three weeks of the NFL season are in the books and starting the official bye weeks, I figured it might be interesting to take a look at the top 25 players (based on the scoring system for one of the leagues that Matt and I are in - non-PPR) and see if there were any surprises in the mix...of which there were a few. Keep in mind that it's only been three weeks, but it's interesting to note that potential first round picks LaDainian Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, Randy Moss, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady (a little different situation for Brady than for the others though) are no where to be found...

Studs and Duds - Week 2: Ryan Grant ready to roll!

After all the dust has settled and the injury count has been tallied (bye bye Brady, Burleson, Alex Smith and for a little while, Colston), it's time to recount my predictions for the previous weekend and give you a few more for week two of the season. According to my slightly-biased count, I finished last week 13-7-6, which isn't all that bad I guess. Some of my better picks included Thomas Jones, who re-assumed his spot in fantasy football relevance with a strong showing against the Dolphins and Chris Perry, who did very little with his first chance to shine as the Bengals new starting running back, as expected. On the flip-side, I did miss a few picks, including Ricky Williams, who returned to his role as a deadbeat (in fantasy production that is) against the Jets, while Brandon "The Bruiser" Jacobs taught me (and LaRon Landry) never to doubt him again. Anyways, it's time for your week two studs and duds, so hopefully I can provide a little insight that can help your team this upcoming weekend...

Fantasy football thoughts from Puerto Rico

So these past few days have been a bit of an adventure for me, as I was traveling down to Puerto Rico for work and due to some hurricane-induced delays, mixed with the reliability of the Puerto Rican internet, I have not been able to write some much needed analysis of what is shaping up to be a crazy opening weekend in the NFL. Let me just start by saying that while Matt felt it unnecessary to mention Tom Brady's season ending injury (and it wasn't even to that stupid foot we kept hearing about!), I have to admit that I am shedding a few tears internally as my favorite team's Superbowl hopes are now resting squarely on the shoulders of a guy I thought the team was going to cut before the season started...Mr. Matt Cassel. Luckily for my alternate, fantasy football reality, I only had Brady in one league this year and it was my lame EA Sports league that I really don't care much about, but let's get to the rest of the action that transpired this weekend...
