Thought I’d mention this since it’s something I refer to frequently as I’m writing posts for this blog: FFtoday’s fantasy football statistics section is a truly awesome resource. I don’t know of anything else that allows you to break it down by position and week – so, for example, if you want to know who the top wide receiver in week 5, 2007 was, the answer’s there.

    • Predicting QB success in fantasy football via YPA (Yards Per Attempt) and FAS (Functional Arm Strength).  (MLive.com)
    • Bleacher Report’s top 30 running backs. Included here because it’s one of the rare rankings that doesn’t have LT on top. Love for Westbrook is definitely in style this summer, but personally he still makes me nervous. (Bleacher Report)
    • It’s the middle rounds of your draft that will determine the winner. (FloridaToday)
    • Blah, blah, Favre’s a Jet, blah, blah. It’s intensely satisfying to me to bury this story in the middle of a link post. Though I can’t promise that Brandon isn’t writing a breathless post about it right now. And honestly, I’ll probably write an analysis at some point. But not today. (SI.com)
    • Ranking the best fantasy football magazines. Personally, I don’t get buying something in print when fantasy football is such a dynamic hobby and injuries can change everything in an instant, but I guess some people like shiny things they can hold in their hands. (Detroit Free Press)
    • Five sure-fire busts that everyone should avoid, including, of course, Tom Brady. Wait, what? (Bleacher Report)

Why you should avoid drafting players on bad teams. [Bleacher Report]

Here’s one blogger who puts Addai, Jackson, LT, and Westbrook on about equal footing as his top-tier RBs. [Fake Teams]

You think you’re hardcore into fantasy football? You’re not truly hardcore until you can say you’ve drafted a CFL fantasy football team. [News Talk 650]

Is it possible to draft Tom Brady in the first round and still put together an otherwise-respectable fantasy squad? How about Randy Moss? [K5 Fantasy Football]

Dave over at FF Goat has posted two more offensive line analyses for the AFC East and the AFC West.

Thinking about trying out an auction league this season? Here’s how to get started. [Football Jabber]

There might be a settlement coming in the Marshawn Lynch case. I’m trying to figure out if there’s anything else I can cross besides all my fingers and toes. Kidneys, perhaps? Time to fire up WebMD. [WKBW]

Thinking about managing a fantasy team with a friend? Here’s a cautionary tale. Brandon and I are co-managing teams in at least two expert leagues this year… If this blog suddenly disappears after a flurry of bitter and obscene posts, now you’ll know why. [Wall Street Journal]

Chances are, you won’t be drafting a 49er this season. [RealFootball365]

Here’s FFGoat’s take on the AFC South offensive lines. [Fantasy Football Goat]

RealTime Fantasy Sports’ draft guide is pretty damn comprehensive for a free offering. If they keep it updated throughout the preseason, they’re going to put a lot of the premium draft guide providers out of business.

If you were a Westbrook owner last season, the memory of him passing up a touchdown in order to run out the clock against Dallas is forever scarred into your soul. For what it’s worth, he’s sorry. [Bleeding Green Nation]

The Bucs are a total mess, but Gruden doesn’t seem to mind. [ESPN]

Aaron Rodgers has a laser, rocket arm. The fact that it’s impressing anyone at all in the former land of Favre is noteworthy. [ESPN]

Javon Walker’s probably going to be fine. Still an idiot and probably a liar, but fine. [MSNBC]

JaMarcus Russell is a big fatty.

Warrick Dunn’s a Buc again. Could get interesting with Earnest Graham, who was arguably the biggest surprise of 2007. He probably won’t challenge Graham for the starting spot, but he could steal some carries and (especially) looks. (The question with Cadillac Williams isn’t whether he’ll start in ‘08 – he won’t – but rather whether he’ll ever start in the NFL again).

Julius Jones is officially a Seahawk, and if he was getting half of the carries in a backfield shared with the man-beast that is Marion Barber, it seems pretty likely that he’ll get something similar in Seattle. One thing’s for certain: Shaun Alexander’s days of being a fantasy RB1 are long gone, never to return. (More …)
