The return of Ricky Williams?
Now that week 4 is officially in the books, it's time to start looking at players who are eligible to return from suspension, and what bigger name did you need than weed-man extraordinaire, Ricky Williams. Williams has apparently applied for reinstatement to the league after spending some time a) being suspended from the league (for the 4th time!) for his habitual marijuana use, b) vacationing in India and Australia, where he was practicing yoga or something, and c) playing football in the Canadian Football League.
The entire reinstatement process could take upwards of 60 days, and in that time the doctor's have to recommend Williams be reinstated and then Commissioner Goodell has to actually agree to the recommendation. With the "no tolerance" policy that Goodell has been preaching so far in his tenure, it's hard to believe that Williams would have a chance to play this season, but if he does, I'm sure there will be teams considering his services, such as Tampa Bay, Green Bay (I can imagine the "green" jokes here), and ESPN even said that the Patriots might consider taking him. This would also depend on the Dolphins willingness to trade him, which will be most likely when they're sitting at 0-9 going into the week Williams returns. While I don't see him making a fantasy impact this season, it might be time to put Ricky Williams back on your cheat sheet for next season...maybe the 5th time's a charm?
Other fantasy relevant players that are coming off suspension this week or in the future include:
Domanic Rhodes (RB-OAK): This is an intriguing one considering LaMont Jordan's in jury over the weekend. If he's a free agent in your league, look to scoop him up as the Raiders have been running like crazy lately and Rhodes should join in on the fun shortly.
Rodney Harrision (S-NE): In most leagues the only impact that this will make will be to improve an already pretty solid New England team defense. However, in IDP leagues, you might consider picking up Harrison and seeing what kind of impact he can make. Maybe he still has a little HGH in his system that can benefit your squad.
Chris Henry (WR-CIN): He still has a few games before he comes back, but if you're thinking you might have playoff hopes and are in need of WR depth, you might consider Henry as he'll be in regular season form just in time for your playoffs to begin.
