Here is the fantasy football “Team of the Week” for week eight, listing the players that scored the most points (using standard scoring) over the course of Sunday’s games. This week was pretty slow for most of the positions, but there were some huge performances by running backs (and not the one’s you might have expected!)

If Dustin Keller is still available in my league, is he worth a flier? I just lost Owen Daniels for the season.

I’m kind of wondering about Keller too. I have Marcedes Lewis (JAX) but Garrard is so inconsistent that I want to see if there are better options.
Dustin Keller, Jermichael Finley, Benjamin Watson and Bo Scaife are all available. Suggestions?

What about Daniels replacement as well (Joel Dreessen)… Matt Schaub liked Daniels a lot and I’m assuming just because there is a new guy in Daniels place, he will still be trying to run the TE plays. I also lost Daniels, but Joel is their long snapper and is on the field for many odd and end jobs, so he is familiar with the plays (their other tight end hasn’t played at all!). They may also be picking up a new TE if it doesn’t work out…

There’s really about 4-5 tight ends right now who are all around the same: Kevin Boss, Dustin Keller, Tony Scheffler, Todd Heap, and Zach Miller (maybe JerMichael Finley too when he’s back from injury.)
In terms of your original question E-Roc, of course Keller is worth a flier, depending on who you have to give up to get him! Just like those other guys I listed though, they’re only going to have solid games once in a while and it’ll be hard to predict when they’ll come.
As for Joel Dreessen, I’d wait to see what he does before potentially wasting a roster spot on him. There are other guys out there who will put up equal or better numbers on your free agency list I’m sure.

Also, Ryan Moats. I have Slaton on my team although I (LUCKILY) benched him 2 minutes before kickoff because I had a bad feeling… put in Addai instead (who had a touchdown throw!). Is Ryan Moats here to stay with that performance? Or do you think Slaton will be splitting carries with him? I’m half tempted to pick him up instead of Slaton as a backup RB

Kubiak announced that Houston will be using 3 backs (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5767) but it’s possible that Slaton will be inspired to give a strong performance after being pulled from the game yesterday

My guess is that Slaton starts every game and if he fumbles once or twice, he gets yanked. I think he has the most versatility and they’re not going to bury him on the bench after a few games with fumble issues (considering how awesome he was last year.)

With Moats looking like he might get the bulk of the touches how do you feel about a trade where I give up Colston and Barber for Welker and Slaton? as far as receivers go I have Steve Smith (NYG), Hester, Harvin and Donnie Avery, and as RB’s go I have C. Benson, Moreno, Ricky Williams, and Sproles….I have Brady as QB and that coupled with Slaton’s benching has me questioning this trade a lot more than I would have a week ago…

Why are you trading for Slaton now?
Brandon 4:34 pm on 11/03/2009 Permalink |
No way should you do this trade! Colston is better than Welker and Barber is arguably better than Slaton at this point.
