Here is the fantasy football “Team of the Week,” listing the players that scored the most points (using standard scoring) over the course of Sunday’s games. This week’s team is led by the man who shares my name, Denver Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, who broke the single season record for receptions with 21 in a losing effort to the Colts. Anyways, with the Monday Night Football game yet to take place (Arizona @ San Francisco) this list may be a bit premature, but here is your team of the week nonetheless…

hey, brandon and matt! how was your weekend? i have some questions heading into the semis for you guys if you fancy. you’ve gotten me this far! upset of the year if a girl wins this league!!!
- is joshua cribbs going to be an okay play against the chiefs in week 15? would you rather him or chris jennings?
what about chambers/bowe against the browns?
is maclin done for the next two weeks? if so, who replaces him in that high-flying passing offense: jason avant or reggie brown? also, do these past two weeks’ play make lesean mccoy fantasy irrevalent and, thus, droppable for cribbs/jennings?
- I have Philly’s D up against SF… should i pick up SEA (vs. tb), GB (vs. pit), HOU (vs. stl), or CLE (vs. kc)?
Thank you so much and have a wonderful week!

I have a very similar look for next week after a HUGE win this week wooo!
-How about Cribbs or Jennings against KC? Maybe play whoever gets starting nod?
- What about Chambers against the Browns (not Bowe)?
p.s. with the cribbs/jenning situation I have Forte vs. Ravens, Ganther vs. Giants, Cadillac vs. Seahawks…which two would you start? thanks

…any advice guys?
Brandon 10:48 am on 12/16/2009 Permalink
Yeah, play whoever is deemed the starter for the Browns running backs. Chambers is a safer play over Bowe at the moment. As for your running backs, go with Ganther and whoever you go with from Jennings/Cribbs.
Brandon 10:47 am on 12/16/2009 Permalink |
I’m hoping Cribbs works out this week, as I’m starting him as my WR3! I assume both he and Jennings will be used against the Chiefs. If you’re considering them for the flex spot and your league awards for kick returns, go for Cribbs. If you don’t get any bonus for kick returns, Jennings is probably the safer bet.
As for Chambers and Bowe, stick with Chambers until you see how big of a factor Bowe is in the offense after sitting out for a few weeks.
As for the Eagles receivers, neither Avant or Brown are really that appealing, but Avant is still my best bet if I had to pick between the two (at least for this week.) There’s gotta be a better receiver out there for you to consider though.
Finally, at defense, I like Seattle this week against the Bucs. Hopefully this helped and good luck!

finley or fred davis this week at tight end?
Brandon 10:40 am on 12/16/2009 Permalink |
I’m going with Fred Davis this week. The Giants are one of the worst teams in the league against the tight end position and Davis has been a touchdown machine lately.

Nice name by the way!

Hey guys, made it through but next week I’m up against Ray Rice vs Bears & Warner @ Detroit, & the New Brandon Marshall – and my matchups aren’t great, so could use some help!
WRs: Welker, Austin, SmithNYG, MSW, Ocho
Feeling a lot less stellar about them this week, given MSW & Ocho’s trends, Smith’s lack of TDs, Brady & Dallas inconsistencies.
RBs: SJax, Wells, Charles, Fred Jackson, Forsett
SJax may finally be near done (bad back + meaningless games), so there goes my #1 guy. Wells has Det at least, Charles has CLE (but PIT couldn’t run on them last week…)
The big question: I find it hard to trust any Cleveland Brown this year, (and I’m a Browns fan), but it looks like they’re finally really using Cribbs in the running game. He’s listed as a WR in our league, so I could swap him for one of my WR (returns: points for TD, none for yards). I know this completely flies in the face of “go with the guys who got you there”, but I’m just not feeling too confident right now. Talk me down?
TJ 3:08 pm on 12/15/2009 Permalink |
And also: Reggie Bush is available FA – worth a swap for one of the above RBs?
Brandon 10:56 am on 12/16/2009 Permalink
Grab Reggie Bush for Justin Forsett if you still have the chance!
Brandon 11:07 am on 12/16/2009 Permalink |
At wide receiver I’d stick with your “inconsistencies”: Welker and Austin, as well as Steve Smith, who is getting a lot of looks each week. As for your running backs, I’d still keep Steven Jackson in there, along with Jamaal Charles, who is on fire lately.
Cribbs is intriguing, but I don’t see how you can start him over Steve Smith, considering he really only has value if he can break open a few runs on his own. Smith has a chance for a long bomb from Eli Manning at any moment.

Thanks, Brandon. One more question – At TE do you like Witten, Shiancoe, or Fred Davis?
Brandon 8:18 am on 12/17/2009 Permalink
I actually like Fred Davis over the other two, which is a bit surprising. Witten had a few good games recently, but last week he returned to his 5-catch-50-yard-2009-self. Davis has a great match-up with a Giants team that is pretty bad defending the tight end position and he has racked up the touchdowns in the past couple weeks.
TJ 12:34 pm on 12/17/2009 Permalink
Thanks, I got Davis, I think he will outscore the other two.
Since Sims-Walker is apparently healthy enough to go tonight, any change to your WR recommendations? Brady missed practice yesterday (finger, shoulder, ribs), I know he’ll start, but playing hurt again against a tough Buf D…………
Brandon 11:03 am on 12/18/2009 Permalink
Sims-Walker would have been nice, as he put up decent numbers, but now you’ll just have to wait and hope the other guys can at least match him. I was actually concerned for you last night though as I thought I had unfortunately advised you to start Fred Davis over Dallas Clark, but glad to see it was Jason Witten who I was thinking of. Keep Welker in there.
