With the final week of the regular season approaching in The Hazean’s Blogger League and after a two game winning streak, FFGeekBlog.com is still in the running for a playoff spot…but it’s not looking all that good. If you look at the League homepage below you’ll notice that FleaFlicker gives us a 31% chance to make the playoffs (and a 0% chance to earn a first round bye.
) This is a pretty cool feature and something that I haven’t seen any other site provide up to this point. How they calculate the odds is a small mystery to me though and is assuredly not based the players each team has in their line-up. In general I’ve been pretty impressed with FleaFlicker this year and while the UI still doesn’t have the flashy appeal of Yahoo! and other bigger sites, I hope that at least the Blogger League continues using the site in the future. Anyways, wish us luck as we try to clinch a spot and show the fantasy football blogging world that FFGeekBlog is the real deal!

Brandon-
What is your opinion on the “Meachem Play”? CBS Sports did not give me credit for his second TD since they said he was a part of NO defense when he recovered the ball. What??? He started the play as an offensive player and ended as one. As a result I lost this week by three points! Had they scored his TD I would have won. I think they points were mine and should not have been given to NO DST.

Yeah, I’ve heard this complaint in previous years and it’s just a matter of how your league is set up. As soon as the Saints lost the ball, CBS Sports considers them a defensive unit (since they’re trying to stop the other team from scoring on the interception return) and therefor even when Meachem gets it back, it’s just like an interception for a touchdown. I’m not sure if there are leagues where you can change the scoring to handle this situation a bit more to your liking, but it’s worth looking for next year possibly.

One way you can handle it is to award points for individual return touchdowns (either on special teams or defense.) This way Meachem would have gotten you the six points for a defensive touchdown still.
