After proclaiming that wide receiver Roy Williams was not on the trading block for the past few weeks, it appears that the Detroit Lions have given in and completed a trade that will send Williams to Dallas for a first, third and sixth round draft pick.

This would have pretty huge news in the fantasy football world if it weren’t for the fact that star quarterback Tony Romo will miss upwards of a month with a broken finger. Instead of having Jon Kitna or Dan Orlovsky throwing Williams the ball, you’ll now have 40 year old Brad Johnson flinging it his way. I honestly can’t see all that much of an improvement in his stats until Romo returns.

In other news, the Washington Redskins have signed running back Shaun Alexander to a one year contract. Don’t expect much fantasy relevance from Alexander though unless Portis suffers an injury of some sort. He does make for an interesting handcuff though, as backup Ladell Betts is expected to be out for a few weeks with a strained hamstring and knee.

We’re still waiting on an update to see if tight end Tony Gonzalez will be shipped out of Kansas City…
