• Just turned on the Carolina vs Philadelphia game…after barely playing at all last week, Delhomme is not having the type of game (2/4 for 18 yards) so far that makes me want to run out and draft him as my starting quarterback. Although he’s only had 4 attempts, the offense in general looks uninspired and like something that I want to stay away from going into my upcoming drafts.
  • Eagles wide receiver Reggie Brown left the game with some kind of hamstring injury, but no news on the severity yet. Rookie DeSean Jackson is now lined up opposite Kevin Curtis, so we should get a good look at him. He already has one catch for 11 yards.
  • The Eagles / Panthers game was looking like a real barn burner (note: sarcasm)…and now it’s delayed due to bad weather…awesome!
  • Looking at the stats to the Bills / Steelers game, seems as if that should be the game that’s on TV, as there seems to be a little more action (Buffalo is leading 14-7 at half).
  • Santonio Holmes has caught his second touchdown in as many preseason games. I’m about to update the wide receiver power rankings and move him up a few spots.
  • Not to be outdone, Buffalo receiver Robert Royal has caught two touchdowns in this game on just two receptions from Trent Edwards, who had a much better game this week than his performance in week one. Royal is going to have to do more than have one big game though to find a place on the power rankings.
  • Roethlisberger looked pretty solid again (9/11 for 142 yards, a TD and an INT) and is doing his best to justify my high ranking of him (as well as Madden ’09’s!). With Charlie Batch injured last week, the Steelers new backup quarterback, ex-Falcon Byron Leftwich, is in the game…he of course has zero fantasy value, but it’s still interesting to see how he does.
  • Holmes, Hines Ward, and Lee Evans are all near the 50 yard mark with just over a half played…good starts from guys I’m sure you’re targeting relatively early in your drafts.
  • While his average hasn’t been anything special (2.7 ypc on 11 attempts), rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall for the Steelers is getting chances to prove his stuff…and it’s led to the first touchdown of his NFL career (albeit a preseason TD) on a six yard run. I haven’t heard any glowing reviews of Mendenhall up to this point in the preseason though, so it appears that Willie Parker could be more of a value pick than people are expecting, coming off a season in which he almost never saw the endzone last year.
  • With the Red Sox winning 10-0 in the eight inning, Michael Phelps not swimming for a while, and the preseason football games pretty much at the end of anything that anyone cares about (although Dehomme is looking a little better now), I think I’ll call it a night. Oakland plays Tennessee tomorrow night.
  • P.S. I’ll take Brandon Marshall over Pacman Jones any day! Plus, the latest movie you should definitely take your girlfriend to!
