J.P. Losman: Battling with Jauron? Kind of classless?

I'll address those two questions in order, because order is good.

I hate Chris Brown

I have a confession to make. Despite my own doubts about Brown this week, I just couldn't shake the nagging thought that maybe, just maybe, he'd replicate his week 1 performance, and I'd feel dumb having a hot player on my bench. So, at the very last minute, I stuck him in the flex spot in one of my leagues... only watch him prove me right and get me a whopping 3.6 fantasy points.

And by Fantasy Game of the Week we obviously meant CIN @ CLE?

As I'm watching the Colts play a pretty tight game against the Titans down here in Puerto Rico, I'm seeing updates flash across the bottom of the screen for the other games. At first I don't make much of the Cincinnati at Cleveland game, which ended the first quarter at 7-6, Cincinnati's advantage. However, having a few players on my fantasy teams in that game (Housh, Rudi-J and Kellen Winslow) and a few on opponents teams (Palmer, Chad-Jo, Housh and Jamal Lewis), I started paying a little more attention...

Está usted listo para algún fútbol americano?

If that is not a proper translation, you can blame www.freetranslation.com. Anyways, yours truly will now be blogging live from Puerto Rico for the next two months. I am away on business, but don't worry, I'll still be able to post on a regular basis. They even have all the major American network stations down here, so I can watch the games as well (except I probably won't be able to see my Patriots play Cry). So when I'm not lounging on the beach with a glass of rum in my hand, I'll continue to provide up-to-date fantasy football analysis from a country that doesn't even play the sport...just for you!

Where in the world is Randy Moss?

Similar to that old Carmen Sandiego TV show/video game in which Carmen's henchmen were hunted down all over the world, fantasy owners have been struggling to hunt down any information regarding one of their potential top picks in the fantasy draft this season: Randy Moss.

Culpepper vs. McCown... where's JaMarcus?

Well it looks like the quarterback competition in Oakland is finally winding down. Although at this point this battle should have very little fantasy implications, the winner might be a name to consider during the year when you run into injury problems or the bye week blues. McCown has proven himself to be a completely mediocre quarterback, averaging only 155 yards a game and throwing only 25 touchdowns in 35 games, while also throwing 29 interceptions. I wouldn't expect much different from him if he takes over as quarterback for the Raiders this season. However, Daunte Culpepper brings a lot more intrigue to the conversation.

Why wait?

When the football gods shone down on the Cleveland Browns management during the 2007 NFL draft, allowing them to take potentially the best QB in the draft with the 22nd pick overall, I assume they believed they were taking the quarterback and face of the franchise for years to come. They had just finished their 4th terrible season in a row, finishing last in the division each time, and the drafting of Quinn was somewhat of a miracle. The funny part is, for some reason this year they believe they should put off the future because the guy that led them to a 4-12 season last year (Charlie Frye) has "earned it".

Weekend Update

Actually this post is just supposed to be about relevant player news from the weekend which is sadly now over, but since you brought it up, is there even any debate that Norm MacDonald is hands-down the funniest Weekend Update anchor in SNL history? A quick summary of the competition:

Larry Johnson finally signs (phew!)

In case you were living under a rock for the past few days, we just wanted to let you know that Larry Johnson has finally signed his contract extension with the Chiefs, which will provide him with $43.2 million over the next 5 years, with $19 million guaranteed. So all you managers that drafted LJ can finally sleep soundly, and those considering taking him with the 2nd or 3rd pick, feel free to do so with no worries. The fact that he hasn't practiced at all this year and hasn't played in a preseason game shouldn't affect his game play at all and could actually help because he has now taken that many less hits up to this point.

Looks/touches predictions: Who uses these?

I read a ton of stuff about fantasy football. Some of it is useful, some of it is crap, and some of it just makes me wonder how, or why, anyone could possibly use the advice in an actual fantasy football league.
