These are the decisions...

...that make you tear your hair out. I'm in a second-round playoff matchup, and I've been dwelling over my WR3 spot for the last half an hour. OK... probably more like an hour. Reading everything I can find about the two guys I'm thinking about filling it with. Pounding coffee to fend off the hangover from the three large glasses of Jack I had to drink last night in order to restore my sanity after seven unbearable hours of Christmas shopping. Knowing that no matter what I do, the guy I bench will score at least two touchdowns. It's just been one of those seasons for me.

FFGeekBlog.com sponsorship

Check it out...FFGeekBlog.com is now sponsoring our first athlete! Although we didn't pay a dime for the sponsorship, we still got our name down the sleeves of my brother's biking jersey. You can visit his site at www.JohnKueter.com (it's still in progress though, so don't be too critical!)

Gotta love that asterisk *

I'm not talking about the Barry Bonds record home run ball here. I'm not even talking about Don Shula's attempt to discredit the greatest football team in NFL history. What I'm talking about can probably only be understood by Yahoo! Fantasy Football managers. I'm talking about the * next to your ranking that signifies that you have clinched the playoffs. Last week in a few of my leagues, managers began clinching spots in the playoffs. Finally, this week I was able to clinch the playoffs in one of my leagues. What a great feeling (and I must say, I probably won't see many more asterisks this year as in my other three leagues my teams are in serious do-or-die mode). Now I can sit back, relax, and watch the Patriots completely obliterate the Eagles and Ravens without having to worry that Tom Brady, Randy Moss or Wes Welker will simultaneously be obliterating my fantasy team...because it doesn't matter (in that league at least). I hope that by using our superb fantasy football knowledge and advice here at FFGeekBlog.com, some of our readers are joining me this morning to celebrate the asterisk.

What is going on in Oakland?!

Can anyone explain to me why JaMarcus Russell is not the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders right now?

Big man's got wheels!

Besides the Adrian Peterson Show and Superbowl 41.5, the defensive/special teams touchdown run-back also took center stage this weekend. San Diego's Antonio Cromartie set the record for the longest play in NFL history when he returned a missed field goal for an 109 yard touchdown.

AccuScore: What a waste of time

After reading an article about the AccuScore Super Computer on ESPN.com, which ran simulations of the Patriots-Colts game, I'm thoroughly convinced that we are already running out of things to talk about with these two teams. Honestly, what is the point of running simulations of a game where the sport's slogan goes "...anything can happen on any given Sunday"? Unless you're on your way to your bookie to place a big bet, how can the outcome of computer simulations affect you in any way? The nerd next door might as well run a Madden '08 simulation on his XBox and tell you who won...it would have the same bearing on what will happen this Sunday.

New England Domination!

Sorry, but before I go into football related topics, I have to give a shout out to the Boston Red Sox for their World Series victory last night. With a 4-3 win, they swept the Colorado Rockies for their second World Series Championship in four years. With most of their talent expected to return next season...do I hear DYNASTY?!

Dear Yahoo: Get a clue, Ronnie's pretty cuttable now

The news that Ronnie Brown is done for the season sucked pretty hard for me, as he was the lynchpin of the best fantasy squad I've got going this year. But Yahoo isn't making the loss any easier to take, as Brown's still on their no-cut list, so I can't even drop him. His name is just sitting there on my roster, mocking me. I need a beer.
