Tight end Kellen Winslow suspended one game

In case you hadn't heard, Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow has been suspended for one game after making critical comments towards the team regarding how they handled his injury/illness two weeks ago. For those of you who took Winslow in the draft (I did in multiple leagues!) hoping he could repeat his stats from last year, you've been rewarded with nothing but headaches so far...and I don't expect it to get a whole lot better anytime soon. The offense has dropped off dramatically since last season and it seems the team is reaching the end of the rope with Winslow as he was apparently on the trading block before the deadline, but they couldn't get enough in return to warrant a trade. While I can't recommend dropping Winslow from your squad (he's got too much talent...and maybe Brady Quinn will take a liking to him if/when he gets to start), I CAN sympathize with you and pray that he can get back on track come fantasy football playoffs time!

Running back Joseph Addai to miss two to four weeks

Earlier this week I wrote that it appeared that Colts running back Joseph Addai's hamstring injury wasn't as bad as originally expected (hopefully you still picked up Dominic Rhodes though!)...it turns out I was misinformed. Addai is now expected to miss two to four weeks (I'd lean towards the latter) with a partially torn hamstring. If you haven't picked up Dominic Rhodes and he's still available for some reason, I suggest you grab him immediatly. Backup Mike Hart was also injured in the last game (he's out for the season), so the Colts will be relying on unknowns Clifton Dawson and Chad Simpson to spell Rhodes, meaning that Dominic should get the majority of the carries this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Wide receiver Roy Williams traded to Cowboys

After proclaiming that wide receiver Roy Williams was not on the trading block for the past few weeks, it appears that the Detroit Lions have given in and completed a trade that will send Williams to Dallas for a first, third and sixth round draft pick.

Week 5 Weekend Wrap-Up: Will the real contender please stand up?

After another crazy week in the NFL where upsets seem to be commonplace, it's hard to point at any team and say that they are the team to beat (besides maybe the Giants and Titans...but even they have their issues.) Last year it was easy with the Patriots and Cowboys clearly the top teams throughout the regular season, but this year is another story. When Tom Brady went down in week one, it seems to have given every other team in the league the idea that they can beat any team on any given Sunday. Anyways, on the day after the Dolphins beat the Chargers, the Colts should have lost to the Texans, and the Cowboys nearly lost to the Bengals, here are some quick thoughts on what took place this weekend:

Week 4 Weekend Wrap-up: Favre keeps on truckin'

Before I go into any thoughts on the games from the weekend, I have one question: Has there ever been a week in the NFL where the combined age of the four quarterbacks playing in two games (Jets vs Cardinals, Vikings vs Titans) was greater than this week? This weekend we saw Brett Favre (38), Trent Green (38), Kurt Warner (37), Gus Frerotte (37), and Kerry Collins (35) all out there trying to show young whipper-snappers across the league how the game is played...with varying degrees of success (or failure). Anyways, let's get into what transpired this weekend, starting with the barn-burner that took place as the Arizona Cardinals came into town to battle the Jets:

Make sure Carson Palmer is on your bench

Palmer is out this week with a sore elbow, so Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start. Fitzpatrick makes an interesting emergency play against a less than stellar Browns defense this week...

Quick notes: Parker and Burress out

In case you weren't already aware, here are a few notes on players that could potentially be in your starting lineup right now...and shouldn't be:

Ravens vs Texans game rescheduled

Due to Hurricane Ike, the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans has been postponed to week 10, meaning that the Ravens and Texans have an emergency bye week this week (click here to get the full description of the rescheduling and how it affects even the Bengals). Anyways, make sure these players (and all others that you might consider playing on these two teams) find a nice cozy spot on your bench:

Fantasy football thoughts from Puerto Rico

So these past few days have been a bit of an adventure for me, as I was traveling down to Puerto Rico for work and due to some hurricane-induced delays, mixed with the reliability of the Puerto Rican internet, I have not been able to write some much needed analysis of what is shaping up to be a crazy opening weekend in the NFL. Let me just start by saying that while Matt felt it unnecessary to mention Tom Brady's season ending injury (and it wasn't even to that stupid foot we kept hearing about!), I have to admit that I am shedding a few tears internally as my favorite team's Superbowl hopes are now resting squarely on the shoulders of a guy I thought the team was going to cut before the season started...Mr. Matt Cassel. Luckily for my alternate, fantasy football reality, I only had Brady in one league this year and it was my lame EA Sports league that I really don't care much about, but let's get to the rest of the action that transpired this weekend...
