Studs and Duds - Week 5: Don't pass on the Lions

Well after a good set of predictions for week two, maybe I should have taken another week off before putting up my next Studs/Duds post. In week four I ended up with only a 9-6-7 (correct-incorrect-push) record as the non-existent Jacksonville rushing attack and Selvin Young did their best to sabotage me. David Garrard's solid day didn't help either, but luckily a huge day from Greg Jennings and a good game from Earnest Graham helped me stay above water. As always, I'm hoping to do much better this week, so here you go with your "studs" and "duds" for week five:

Sell High, Buy Low: Trade ideas for Week 5 2008

SellbuyLast week I advised you to sell high on Reggie Bush, Chris Chambers and Ronnie Brown while you still could. The jury's out on Ronnie Brown since he was on a bye, but I'm going to pull an "I told you so" on Bush (38 total yards, 0 TD, and Deuce is back in action) and Chambers (2 catches, 45 yards, 0 TD).

The Wire: Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 5, 2008

Here's a look at the players to target on your league's waiver wire this week. This list is ordered by the percentage of ESPN leagues in which the player is available; even if you're not a ESPN user, it's a decent indication of how likely you are to find the player on waivers in your league. We also note here how strongly we feel about this pickup with three categories: Instant Starter, Grab 'n' Stash, or Desperation Pickup.

Studs and Duds - Week 4: Back in the swing of things

Before I go into this week's "studs" and "duds", I must apologize for not getting a post up last week. I was en route to San Antonio to meet my girlfriend's family, so I didn't really have too much time to sneak off and blog (hopefully you understand!) Anyways, after a quick review of my week two picks though, it appears that I'm off to a pretty solid start this year. While the guy I mentioned in the title of the post, Ryan Grant, had a terrible game somehow (honestly...this was supposed to be a lock against a bad Detroit defense!), big games from Adrian Peterson, the Denver Connection (Cutler to Marshall), and a poor performance from Derek Anderson led the way as I ended up 15-4-3 (correct-incorrect-push). This brings my current season total to 28-11-9, leading me to believe that my picks have some iota of usefulness to them. So without further ado, here are my "stud" and "dud" picks for the upcoming weekend:

Ask the Geeks - Week 4

Atg ButtonWell it's week four and many of you are probably feeling the effect of poor planning when you took three starters that all had the same bye week (don't worry...you're not alone!) Anyways, hopefully we can offer you some advice to get you past the bye week blues and maintain your first place spot in the standings...

Top 25 fantasy football players after three weeks

Now that the first three weeks of the NFL season are in the books and starting the official bye weeks, I figured it might be interesting to take a look at the top 25 players (based on the scoring system for one of the leagues that Matt and I are in - non-PPR) and see if there were any surprises in the mix...of which there were a few. Keep in mind that it's only been three weeks, but it's interesting to note that potential first round picks LaDainian Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, Randy Moss, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady (a little different situation for Brady than for the others though) are no where to be found...
