My apologies for not posting my regular columns so far this week; I had jury duty and was actually selected as a juror, which was a ton of fun, except by "ton" I mean "load" and by "fun" I mean "shit." Not guilty on all four counts, if you're wondering, due to a complete lack of any evidence whatsoever. Just a bunch of she-said, she-said between two charming young ladies who seemed to think they were on Judge Judy. Their boyfriends got into a fistfight in the hallway outside the courtroom just as things were getting underway. How it ever got to trial is a question I'll be asking the Rochester DA, should I ever meet him.

Initial reports do not sound good on Deuce McAllister's knee injury last night. Unofficial reports are saying that it is a torn ACL and that he could be out for the season. If this is the case, it could be devastating to all owners of Saints players, except maybe Reggie Bush owners. Bush will be counted on to shoulder more of the load in the running game, something that he hasn't really proven he can do to this point. The backup to Bush will be Aaron Stecker, so he could possibly get more of the straight ahead running opportunities as the team likes to use Bush as a wideout frequently. Stay tuned for updates on this situation and if you own Deuce, make sure to pick up Stecker as soon as possible. As if the Saints didn't have enough problems...

Tonight's game has been my first opportunity to witness the 2007 edition of the New Orleans Saints, and it's quite a sight to behold. Drew Brees has led his team to a grand total of one first down so far. The defense might as well not even be on the field (OK, so as I'm typing this they just picked off Vince Young). I'm hearing some long "O" sounds from the crowd, and they're not saying "Deuce" this time. Just think about how bad the Saints have to be playing for New Orleans fans to boo them.

I can't think of the last time a guy who was drafted as a #1 WR in most leagues has seen his fantasy value fall so far so fast (without injury). Against Denver, the Bills showed that when they can, they prefer to run the ball, which makes sense given Marshawn Lynch's power and speed. Against the Steelers and Pats, they showed that really good defenses can simply overwhelm them.

I've got four WRs on that team (a bit shallow, I know, and something that'll probably bite me down the road): Reggie Wayne, Chris Chambers, Jerricho Cotchery, and Jerry Porter. Matt's take - I don't like Barber or Betts this week. Any RB isn't looking at a great day against the Bears, and that goes double for a RB in a committee. But to say that Betts is in a committee would be an understatement - he's really more of a backup who'll be lucky to get 10 carries this week. Portis will probably have a very nice game, but I don't expect Betts to get much of the action (unless it's a blowout).
