Here are our waiver wire candidates for week twelve. As usual, you’ll find players who are either [Startable], a [Stopgap] to get you past a BYE or injury, [Worth a look] and spot on your bench, or [One-week-wonder]s who don’t warrant a roster spot, so you make your roster moves accordingly. You’ll also see the percent owned (in Yahoo! leagues) in parenthesis. All I can say about the cast of characters on this week’s list is that hopefully you don’t have to rely on them too much…otherwise you’re in big trouble.

Team of the Week - Week 11: Detroit Rock City!
Brandon
Here is the fantasy football “Team of the Week” for week eleven, listing the players that scored the most points (using standard scoring) over the course of Sunday’s games. While last weekend’s Team of the Week featured the regulars (Brady, Chris Johnson, Peterson, Randy Moss, etc), this weekend featured some of the most unlikely performances of the season. You know the fantasy world has been turned on its head when the first name you read on this list is Matthew Stafford! Anyways, let’s get to the list…a list which contains players that were possibly on A) someone’s bench or B) free agency…

Ask the Geeks - Week 11: Game-time Edition
Brandon
Here’s the last batch of Ask the Geeks for week eleven. If you have any last minute questions, feel free to leave them as a comment on one of our posts and hopefully Matt or I (or any of our readers) can get back to you with some advice before game time. Either way, good luck and hopefully everyone can start clinching some playoff spots!

Reggie Bush out this Sunday?
Brandon
Throughout most of his NFL career, I wouldn’t have cared a whole lot whether Reggie Bush played or not. However, now that I actually have him on my best fantasy football squad AND because he’s actually putting up decent numbers these days, I’m very nervous about the thought of him not occupying the W/R spot on my roster this weekend. It’s looking more and more like it’s heading that way too, with Reggie nursing a knee bruise. Not helping the situation is the fact that the Saints are undefeated and have no need to risk injuring one of their most dynamic players any further. Keep an eye on this situation until he’s ruled out for sure, but with such an enticing match-up against Tampa Bay, I won’t be happy if he takes the week off.

Not that it has any impact on fantasy football at this point, but it appears that the Buffalo’s recently-made-backup quarterback Trent Edwards could be on his way out of town soon. I just imagine him signing with a UFL team, then, along with J.P. Losman, causing the league to fold as everyone realizes that quarterbacks not good enough to play for the Bills are starting for half the league’s teams.

Hits & Misses - Week 11: Playoffs approaching
Brandon
Here are our “Hits” and “Misses” for week eleven, listing players you want to make sure are in your lineup, as well as those you might consider shelving for the week (or at least lowering your expectations!) This week I returned to my previous ways of leaving the most obvious players off the list (Drew Brees @ TB, Maurice Jones-Drew vs BUF,) so we’re left with players you may actually have to think about starting or benching this week. In most leagues the playoffs are rapidly approaching, so this could be a huge week for your team and hopefully some of our advice can help you clinch a spot! Anyways, here we go with the hits and misses…

Just wanted to share a humorous tweet sent out by the outspoken Saints tight end, Jeremy Shockey, regarding the possibility of LeBron James ever playing in the NFL…
everyone trust me Lebron James could not play in the NFL! espn is crazy to even think he could even make a practice squad. hes a 4.9 40 time
After the success of Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez in the NFL, I’m pretty sure fantasy football managers would be salivating at the prospect of seeing James in the NFL. All I know is that he’d immediately be the best receiver on the Browns the day he stepped on the field.

Does anyone else out there hate these Thursday night football games? I have Panthers receiver Steve Smith in one of my leagues and all I can picture happening is that he has a lousy game tonight and I depress about it for the next three days. However, with Steelers rookie receiver Mike Wallace as my only other option, it appears that I’m going to have to stick with Smith and hope for the best. Of course, if he does well I’ll have a nice head-start going into Sunday’s games, but I’d still prefer all my players play on Sunday (or Monday)…not Thursday.

Thursday Night Football: MIA @ CAR
Brandon
Just like last week, keep in mind that there is a Thursday Night Football game tonight, as the Dolphins head to Carolina to play the Panthers. With Ronnie Brown out for the season now, you definitely want Ricky Williams in your line-up tonight, so don’t forget to set your rosters this afternoon!

Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe has been suspended four games without pay for taking performance enhancing drugs. Hopefully he is not on your team! Chris Chambers will most likely get a few more looks per game based on this news.

Here are our waiver wire candidates for week eleven. As usual, you’ll find players who are either [Startable], a [Stopgap] to get you past a BYE or injury, [Worth a look] and spot on your bench, or [One-week-wonder]s who don’t warrant a roster spot, so you make your roster moves accordingly. This week we start off with a number of backup running backs who could have some immediate fantasy impact due to injuries to starters Michael Turner, Cedric Benson, Clinton Portis and Julius Jones.

Just read a funny post on Deadspin.com about fantasy football for the elderly. While their rules are a bit simpler than what we’re used to, I guess I have to support anything that gets more people involved with fantasy football!

Team of the Week - Week 10: Fourth and 2...
Brandon
Here is the fantasy football “Team of the Week” for week ten, listing the players that scored the most points (using standard scoring) over the course of Sunday’s games. This is a sad day for Patriots fans, having to witness yet another come from behind victory by Peyton Manning and the Colts, capped off by an “interesting” call on fourth down at the end of the game! Anyways, today’s list had very little surprises (except the kicker) and is basically a “who’s who” list of fantasy football superstars…

Commenting on FFGeekBlog.com?
Brandon
As The Fantasy Football Geek Blog continues to grow, Matt and I are noticing a lot more activity from our awesome readers. On certain posts, we’ve gotten upwards of 40-50 comments and with the current format we use, this means that all those comments show up on the main page (FFGeekBlog.com.) This may cause some readers a bit of frustration if they’re searching for a specific post that we’ve published. We’ve already mentioned the “Hide Threads” button, which allows you to collapse all comments on the page, as well as added a new sidebar section (“Latest Posts”) that allows you to view the five most recent posts, but maybe this isn’t enough. We’re interested to how our readers feel about our current commenting format and see if anyone had suggestions on how we could possibly improve it. We definitely don’t want to discourage anyone from commenting, so if you feel that hiding comments on the main page will prevent you from responding to our posts, please let us know. Please let us know what you think and thanks in advance for the input!

Hits & Misses - Week 10: Thursday Night Football Edition
Brandon
As I mentioned in an earlier post, make sure to check your rosters before the game tonight so that you don’t get screwed with a starter on your bench (or even worse if there are leagues out there that lock rosters after the first game of the week starts!) Anyways, I wanted to get this post out with time to spare before game-time tonight in case any of the 49ers or Bears players made the list. Here are our “Hits” and “Misses” for week ten, listing players you want to make sure are in your lineup, as well as those you might consider shelving for the week (or at least lowering your expectations!) Ask the Geeks - Week 10: Running back questions galore!
Brandon
With the first game of the week less than 12 hours away, I figured it was time to put up our first Ask the Geeks post for week ten. Remember, you can ask the geeks here or simply leave your questions as comments on our posts and we’ll try our best to respond to them as soon as possible.
David asks…
I’m doing well in my league right now but I made a pretty big mistake early in the season, trading Addai, and others, for an injured McFadden, and others. I dropped McFadden but picked him up off waivers last week. With Jacobs out this week on bye, I need a second RB, and my other options include Buckhalter and Donald Brown. (I have MJD as my RB1). I’m in first place in my league, so no hope for a waiver pick-up and I’m not willing to trade anyone decent away at this point. My gut says that McFadden will have a decent RB2 game against KC. What do you think? Many thanks for the great site.
