With the final week of the regular season approaching in The Hazean’s Blogger League and after a two game winning streak, FFGeekBlog.com is still in the running for a playoff spot…but it’s not looking all that good. If you look at the League homepage below you’ll notice that FleaFlicker gives us a 31% chance to make the playoffs (and a 0% chance to earn a first round bye.
) This is a pretty cool feature and something that I haven’t seen any other site provide up to this point. How they calculate the odds is a small mystery to me though and is assuredly not based the players each team has in their line-up. In general I’ve been pretty impressed with FleaFlicker this year and while the UI still doesn’t have the flashy appeal of Yahoo! and other bigger sites, I hope that at least the Blogger League continues using the site in the future. Anyways, wish us luck as we try to clinch a spot and show the fantasy football blogging world that FFGeekBlog is the real deal!

The Wire - Week 14: Who's Starting Vince Young in the Playoffs?
Brandon
Here are our waiver wire candidates for week fourteen. As usual, you’ll find players who are either [Startable], a [Stopgap] to get you past a BYE or injury, [Worth a look] and spot on your bench, or [One-week-wonder]s who don’t warrant a roster spot, so you make your roster moves accordingly. You’ll also see the percent owned in parenthesis. This week we start off with a few quarterbacks who’s play has improved dramatically over the next few weeks. Early in the season, did you ever imagine starting Alex Smith or Vince Young (or Bruce Gradkowski?) in the playoffs? Me neither.

Unfortunately we didn’t place in any of the categories in the Fantasy Football Librarian’s 1st Annual Reader’s Choice poll.
If you were curious who did win in each area though, take a look at the results. A lot of big websites on there who obviously have a much bigger audience than us at this point, but maybe next year FFGeekBlog.com can crack one (or more) of the lists. Thanks to everyone who voted for us though! -
Team of the Week - Week 13: One-hit Wonders
Brandon
Here is the fantasy football “Team of the Week” for week thirteen, listing the players that scored the most points (using standard scoring) over the course of Sunday’s games. With the Monday Night Football game yet to take place (Baltimore @ Green Bay) this list may be a bit premature, but here is your team of the week nonetheless…

Ask the Geeks - Week 13: Game-Time Edition
Brandon
Here are the last Ask the Geek questions for week 13. Hopefully everyone can get a win this week and make the playoffs! Remember, if you have any additional questions, feel free to leave them as comments on our posts and we (or some of our great readers) will try to get back to you with advice before game-time. Good luck!
Jim asks…
Who to play this week 13: Moreno or Addai or McCoy? As a note, no points in our league until you get to 75 yards receiving OR rushing and more points the longer the touchdown

Brandon
After acquiring the receiver accused of assault outside a night club in Cleveland, Jets ownership most likely told Braylon Edwards to “use his head” if he’s to have a future in New York. Apparently Edwards was listening very closely…but he still can’t figure out how using his head will keep him from dropping passes! (cue this sound.)
For those of you with Edwards in your line-up this week, at least he made a nice effort for a touchdown later in the game, so you can’t complain too much.

Thursday Night Football: NYJ @ BUF
Brandon
As usual, just wanted to give everyone a heads up to the fact that there is a game tonight, which could potentially mean your roster gets locked (or players get put on waivers) after game-time tonight. In terms of the players in the game that you should care about, you’ll probably want Thomas Jones and Fred Jackson in your line-ups, but besides them there is no one else all that appealing, since Darrelle Revis will most likely be shutting down T.O.

Hits & Misses - Week 13: Win or Go Home
Brandon
Here are our “Hits” and “Misses” for week thirteen, listing players you want to make sure are in your lineup, as well as those you might consider shelving for the week (or at least lowering your expectations!) With the playoffs right around the corner, you most likely need a win badly this week to clinch that first round BYE (or to even get a playoff spot!) Hopefully our list this week can help you get over the hump and into your league’s tournament, where you will surely bring home the bacon because you frequent such an awesome and knowledgeable fantasy football website! Alright, enough tooting of our own horn, let’s get to the hits and misses for this week and GOOD LUCK!

Ask the Geeks - Week 13: Ochocinco's a Go?
Brandon
With the first game of week 13 rapidly approaching, here is the first batch of questions. Hopefully our help can clinch a spot in your league’s playoffs…or a first round BYE if that’s an option! Either way, good luck and remember to get in any more of your questions here or leave them as comments on any of our posts and we’ll try to respond as quickly as we can.
Rob asks…
what is the deal with him? has he lost his connection with palmer? i am thinking about leaving him benched regardless of the defense he faces. what do you think of desean jackson’s injury and do you think avant is worth picking up in ppr league?

Jamal Lewis done for the year?
Brandon
For those of you struggling at the running back position (or those of you who have Jamal Lewis on your roster,) you might consider picking up Chris Jennings, who could very well be the new starting running back for the Cleveland Browns. Apparently Jamal Lewis suffered a concussion in last weeks game and could be calling it quits for the season (and therefor his career, since he mentioned he would retire after this season.) While Jerome Harrison was backing up Lewis early in the season, it’s been Jennings that has spelled Lewis recently and should be the first in line to get additional carries. This weekend the Browns play a San Diego team that while better recently, hasn’t been the greatest the league has to offer in terms of stopping the run, so Chris Jennings could be a possible RB2 or flex candidate.

The Wire - Week 13: The Hunt for the Playoffs
Brandon
Here are our waiver wire candidates for week thirteen. With the playoffs rapidly approaching (only one week of the regular season left in my two main leagues,) many teams out there are probably in a “must win” situation this week. Hopefully some of the players below can get you a much needed victory and give you a chance at that championship trophy (or pride, cash, whatever else you get for winning a fantasy football league.) Anyways, let’s get to the waiver wire picks for this week, starting with a few wide receivers that could help your cause… (More …)

Bonehead Plays of the Week
Brandon
I just felt like sharing a couple of my less-than-spectacular roster moves this week and give a forum to anyone else who felt like complaining…
In one of Matt and my “League of Champions”, where I have Steve Smith (CAR) as a receiver (so I was already at a disadvantage,) I had the awesome foresight to pick up Titans running back Chris Brown as a plug-in for the week. However, at the last minute I panicked and decided to leave in Jason Snelling instead. Snelling proceeded to score me an excellent -1.2 points! Adding insult to injury, I also had Felix Jones on my bench, but apparently thought the third-string Snelling was the smart play…awesome.
Similarly, in the Blogger League I picked up Bills running back Fred Jackson, but in the end decided to leave him and his two touchdowns on the bench (started Bernard Scott and Chad Ochocinco instead.) I also started Matt Ryan (0.6 points before his injury) in place of the concussed Ben Roethlisberger. Luckily this one didn’t matter much, as our opponent, [cough] Bruno Boys [cough], started Kurt Warner and Mike Wallace, amongst others.

Cedric Benson is inactive, so get Bernard Scott in your line-up!
Justin Forsett makes a great start for the Seahawks with Julius Jones sitting out today as well.

Ask the Geeks - Week 12: Thanksgiving Hangover Edition
Brandon
Hopefully everyone’s Turkey Day hang-over is gone and all of the Thursday games left your team in prime spots to clinch the playoffs (or a BYE) this week! Here is the last batch of Ask the Geeks for week 12. If you have any last minute questions, feel free to leave them as a comment on one of our posts and hopefully Matt or I (or any of our readers) can get back to you with some advice before game-time. Good luck and may the fantasy football gods be with you!
e-roc asks…
If I win this weekend, I secure a playoff spot and possibly a Bye, so this is pretty huge…
Please pick 2 RB: MJD (@ SF), T.Jones (v. CAR), McCoy (v. WAS).
Please pick 2 WR: SSmithNYG (@ Den), SSmithCAR (@ NYJ), TJHoush (@ StL), Cotchery (v. CAR)
Lastly, D.Bowe is a FA in our league… Would you swap any of my WRs for him? KC finishes Wks 15-17 with CLE, @CIN and @DEN. Thanks!

Hits & Misses - Week 12: Happy Thanksgiving!
Brandon
Here are our “Hits” and “Misses” for week twelve, listing players you want to make sure are in your lineup, as well as those you might consider shelving for the week (or at least lowering your expectations!) With Turkey Day right around the corner and a record three games being played tomorrow, we needed to post the hits and misses ASAP this week. As usual, I left off a few obvious picks from the list, including Ricky Williams running over the Bills, Larry Fitzgerald smoking the Titans secondary and Greg Jennings beating up on the Lions, but there is still plenty of picks to go around. Hopefully everyone has a great holiday weekend, filled with lots of fantasy football points! -
