Walker, Ward: Out

In case you were too lazy to check our Injury Report (or any site's report for that matter), you need to be aware the Javon Walker and Hines Ward are both OUT this week. Both are suffering from knee injuries and will be unavailable for this week, so look for an immediate replacement. On their respective teams, the players that will benefit the most are WR Brandon Marshall (woot! woot!), WR Brandon Stokely (Denver) and WR Santonio Holmes, TE Heath Miller and WR Nate Washington (PIT). Let's see how my boy B. Marshall performs as the number one receiver in the offense...maybe he won't give it back to Walker! As of now, both Walker and Ward are expected to play next week, but check back to see their status after this weekend.

What the Deuce?!

Initial reports do not sound good on Deuce McAllister's knee injury last night. Unofficial reports are saying that it is a torn ACL and that he could be out for the season. If this is the case, it could be devastating to all owners of Saints players, except maybe Reggie Bush owners. Bush will be counted on to shoulder more of the load in the running game, something that he hasn't really proven he can do to this point. The backup to Bush will be Aaron Stecker, so he could possibly get more of the straight ahead running opportunities as the team likes to use Bush as a wideout frequently. Stay tuned for updates on this situation and if you own Deuce, make sure to pick up Stecker as soon as possible. As if the Saints didn't have enough problems...

Backup quarterback "packages"?

Maybe I'm just having a memory lapse in my old age, but since when have these alternate quarterback "packages" we've seen this week become popular? Yesterday we saw Kurt Warner come in for a few series because it became apparent that the team needed to score fast. Apparently they have a quarterback that is good at scoring fast and one that takes it easy. Then, tonight I see Kerry Collins coming in for a "package" where the Titans have very little time to score. How are these old men the guys that can help the team score faster? Isn't that the idea of the game...score as fast as you can? I mean once you have a good lead you can take it easy and run, but you're still trying to score always. What's next? Matt Cassel comes in for a quick strike package because Brady is too slow? Peyton Manning takes a spot on the bench with 50 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the team down by 5 while Jim Sorgi cruises down the field for the lightning speed score? Maybe the Bears should feature the Brian Griese package 95% of the time and put in Rex Grossman when they need to throw an interception or fumble.

2007-08 NFL Bye Weeks

Well this weekends games are nearly over (and it looks like New Orleans is going to be 0-3 at this rate), so it's time to begin thinking about BYE weeks. You might have forgot about these during the draft, but now it's time to see how badly you've screwed yourself when you realize that you have both starting runningbacks out on the same week. Here are the weeks and the teams that have bye's. Hopefully your team survives till week 11 and is still in contention!

The injury bug strikes

While there were some great fantasy performances from players this past weekend, there were also quite a few injuries to key players that you should be aware of so you can start planning for next weekend. You can also see a summarized version of these on our Injury Report list:

Fantasy OVERLOAD!

I arrived back in Puerto Rico tonight, after being in Connecticut for the weekend, and man was I in for a surprise when I logged into my fantasy leagues. I recommend that if you're in 4 fantasy leagues, you don't log in halfway through the 4:00 games without having a clue what took place earlier. Just a few of the names that are blowing my mind right now:

Random football thoughts

I've been watching SportsCenter religiously since the beginning of the NFL preseason and I have to admit, my least favorite part is when "Fantasy Guru" Matthew Berry comes on. Is it just me? Or does he sound like a whiny little kid trying to get his way or something. Even if I agree with any of his advice, I hate myself for it afterwards. Can't they get someone a little more energetic or entertaining to represent the fantasy football world? On the other end of the spectrum is the Fantasy Football Guys, who sound pretty much like if Opie and Anthony had a bastard child with the Mike and Mike show on ESPN2...but just talked about fantasy football. I can't say I enjoy listening to them either, but at least their childish joking around is somewhat amusing at times. Matthew Berry is never amusing...NEVER!
