hi all – PHI DEF or DEN DEF this week?
Brandon 10:31 am on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
Hmmm…I’m not high on either defense this week, but Denver has been solid and is coming off a BYE, so they should be rested and read to go.

should i go with Dallas D vs seahawks or Arizona D vs Carolina this week?

Arizona

Agreed…Arizona

Thanks for the advice this week. You guys are a big help. This isn’t related to this week, but in week 9 I’ll need to pick up a rb to fill in for a bye. Laurence Maroney and Sammy Morris are both on the waiver wire. It seems as if Sammy Morris should be ok to go in week 9, but it’s hard to tell.
Any advice on who’s the better pick up? Morris was the main guy until he got hurt, but Im wondering if he is going to return for week . And even if he does, will maroney’s performance been enough for him to keep the starting job, or at least send the patriots back in any back could play any down mode?
Unfortuantely, they’re the only decent options on the waiver wire, so i gotta pick one of them. Who do you like the most?
Ken 2:27 pm on 10/30/2009 Permalink
not sure why my question got posted here… sorry guys =/
Brandon 3:55 pm on 10/30/2009 Permalink
Hey Ken, there’s really no way to tell at this point, as it’s still up in the air as to whether Morris will be healthy enough to play in week 9. If he does play, he’s the better start, otherwise Maroney will be your guy. Either way, Maroney will at least get some carries, so he’s the safest option at this point.

In the flex position this week, would you go Lesean McCoy, Steve Smith (NYG) or Willis McGahee?
Brandon 10:32 am on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
Steve Smith

@Brandon – Soooo…. Colts or Chargers this week?
Brandon 10:29 am on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
Based on Oakland’s performance last week, I think you have to play the Chargers. I think Alex Smith is going to have some trouble with the Colts defense, but JaMarcus Russell is horrible and will undoubtedly turn the ball over a few times.
e-roc 5:47 pm on 10/28/2009 Permalink
Last week I guessed wrong and went with the Colts… Colts had 23 pts; Chargers, 33. Hoping for a repeat performance!

Should I go with Buf vs Hou or NYG vs Phi?
Matt 8:51 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Neither is a good option. Buffalo’s D has been opportunistic but you have to wonder how long they can keep up the streak of multiple-interception games when they’re so banged up. And I wouldn’t start any D against Philly.
Joe 10:38 am on 10/30/2009 Permalink
Sooooo i would assume that you would recommend Detroit based on your last post
ffgeekblogRULES 12:02 pm on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
Which of the defenses you listed, if any, would you consider starting over Minnesota’s D this week?
Matt 8:53 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
I like Arizona the best out of that bunch this week. Delhomme continues to struggle mightily and Arizona’s D is looking pretty good.
jimmyb 12:35 pm on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
should i go with Dalls D vs seahawks or Arizona D vs Carolina this wee k?
Matt 8:53 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Arizona, see comment above.

I have Brady-AP-Portis-Marshall-Jennings-Celek with lousy reserves. I was offered Benson-Ricky WilliamsBradshaw-Mason-Vernon Davis for AP and some backups. Should I do it?
Thanks
Matt 8:54 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Tempting, but nah. There’s almost never a good reason to trade away the #1 overall pick when he’s healthy.
Brandon 1:30 pm on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Wait, what? You were offered Cedric Benson, Ricky Williams, Ahmad Bradshaw, Derrick Mason AND Vernon Davis for Adrian Peterson and “some backups”? If this is the case, I actually have to disagree with Matt…this seems to be a great deal. Cedric Benson is playing lights-out football right now and instead of having to start Portis each week, you can pick from any of those running backs as well. At wide receiver, you will have a solid third guy to rotate in (maybe you start three at the position anyways.) You’ll also get to choose between Celek and Davis at tight end each week, which is a great decision to have. Who would you have to drop to get this deal done? Maybe I’m confused, but it sounds like an excellent deal for you!
Mal 11:52 pm on 10/28/2009 Permalink |
I got Miami but the Texans and Seahawks still available, should I keep with what I have?
RE: Jimmy – Cedric Benson is a beast and is nearly worth AP alone
Matt 8:55 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Yep, I’d stick with Miami. They’re going to give Sanchez some serious headaches.
Javier 9:20 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Currently have the Jets DEF, but I am dropping them at least for next round because Miami’s wildcat made them look awful… would you add Chicago’s (vs. CLE) or San Diego (vs. OAK) for this week?
I also dropped Don Brown (used to cover a bye last round) to pick up Sidney Rice from waivers (Randy Moss and Bowe are BYE), is there any reason to keep Johnny Knox as a starter over him?
Brandon 1:31 pm on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
I like San Diego a bit more than Chicago…but both are better than the Jets this week. At receiver, start Sidney Rice over Knox for sure.
Javier 10:10 am on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Who would you start Tony Gonzalez or T.J housmenzadah?
Brandon 1:31 pm on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Housh. Gonzo is on my “miss” list this week.
JD 3:37 pm on 10/29/2009 Permalink |
Pick 2 to start please: Austin Collie, Justin Fargas or TJ Houshmandzadeh
Brandon 12:04 pm on 10/30/2009 Permalink |
Housh and Collie.

While I’m asking, I have a QB dilemma as well: I have Rivers (against Oakland) and Orton (against Baltimore). Is Rivers going to strike early and then hand off all day? Am I better off starting Orton, who might have a closer game? (again, thanks)
Wu 4:40 am on 10/30/2009 Permalink
Start Rivers, If you think Rivers is going to handoff all day, that just means Rivers already threw for 3 TD and a good chunk of yards since they are going to be up big. Dont let the Team fool you into not starting a guy, YOu have to start Rivers week in and week out. Dont be foolish and start your studs.
Brandon 12:06 pm on 10/30/2009 Permalink
I agree with Wu for your quarterback, Philip Rivers has been abusing good defenses all year and the Raiders aren’t going to slow him down. Start him with confidence.
As for your defense, I’m not high on either this week, but I guess I’d start Baltimore with the hopes that they can force Orton into making a few bad decisions.
