For those of you in leagues that have their championship in week 17, here are a few quick waiver wire thoughts (since we’re too lazy to put out our full-fledged The Wire this week!)
- Matt Moore, QB, Panthers – I never would have thought Moore would have been a legitimate fantasy football quarterback, but after two big performances in a row (versus two decent teams – MIN, NYG) the Panthers could be wondering why they stuck with Delhomme for so long in the first place.
- Donald Brown, RB, Colts – Looks like new Colts head coach Jim Caldwell is a firm denier of the saying, “Those you don’t know history are deemed to repeat it.” After an awesome loss to the Jets, it looks like Donald Brown will see a lot of playing time this weekend, while Joseph Addai and the rest of the teams starters collect dust and rust and the team prepares for their second round loss in the playoffs (not that I’m complaining…maybe they’ll play the Patriots!)
- Arian Foster, RB, Texans – Maybe Houston has finally found a running back they trust. He had 97 yards and a touchdown (and no fumbles!) in week 16 and should get the bulk of the carries against the Patriots as well.
- Sammy Morris, RB, Patriots – Anyone know what happened to Laurence Maroney?
- Devin Aromashodu, WR, Bears – Two big games over the last three weeks, Aromashodu is becoming one of Jay Cutler’s favorite targets.
- Todd Heap, TE, Ravens – Hard to argue with four touchdowns in the past two weeks.
- Tennessee DEF – The Titans are next up to play Matt “the interception machine” Hasselbeck (he must have hung out with Jay Cutler for too long or something.) The Seahawks quarterback has an insane eight interceptions in the past two games!

lost by .16 in the finals

Wow, tough loss there. Hopefully they’ll have some late scoring change that helps you win (might be a bit too late at this point though)

Fighting for third as Peyton Manning and NYG’s defense cost me a spot in the top two…
So, on to the questions:
Orton or P. Manning?
WRs Pick 2:
Fitzgerald
Colston
Sims-Walker
Britt
Aromashodu
RBs Pick 2
Jamaal Charles
Cedric Benson
Ganther
TE Pick 1
Heath Miller
Fred Davis
Flex Pick 3:
Anyone stated above not already picked 1 W/T, and 2 W/R
Also worth noting are some(maybe) attractive options on the wire and my 2 empty bench slots:
Donald Brown
Arian Foster
Josh Morgan
Thoughts?
(Thanks for all the help this year making my first year of Fantasy Football memorable.)

It sounds pretty crazy, but at quarterback I think your best play is actually Josh Freeman against the Falcons. Last time the Bucs and Falcons played, Freeman threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns, so there’s hope that he can do it again.
As for your receivers, go with Marques Colston and roll the dice on Aromashodu. It’s hard to bench Larry Fitzgerald, but you won’t know if the Cardinals have anything to play for until the start of their game, so it’s a bit risky.
At running back, I’d go with Jamaal Charles and Quinton Ganther. The Bengals are already in the playoffs and have little to play for against the Jets, who have a solid run defense AND are playing for a spot in the playoffs.
At tight end I like Fred Davis against a Chargers team who could be resting their star players on defense a bit early.
Finally, in the flex spots, go with Donald Brown and Mike Sims-Walker.

Just one more week…almost there
I am leading by 70 points and the championship is determined by cumulative scores of last 2 weeks. I doubt the opponent can cover so much, still have to do my best
:):):):) Alright need your advice on this QB Rivers or Romo? Def : Steelers or 49ers TE: Kellen Winslow or Fred Davis
Brandon 8:23 am on 12/31/2009 Permalink |
At quarterback you have to start Tony Romo, who at least has something to play for (playoff seeding.) As for your defense, go with San Francisco against the Rams and then at tight end I’d go with Kellen Winslow against the Falcons. Good luck!

Leading by 39 points into the 2nd-of-2 week of the final match… thinking about dropping Rodgers for a full-game QB like Orton or Young, what do you think?
I am also trying to get Olsen (plays DET) to replace Fred Davis (faces SD) in the TE spot… even with their benchers, San Diego is more likely to stop WAS. No Todd Heap because I don’t want another surprise by the Raiders (this is why I’m also keeping the 49ers DEF instead of BAL… St Louis is way scarier with an injured SJax)
Brandon 8:28 am on 12/31/2009 Permalink |
I like Kyle Orton against the Chiefs this week, as Rodgers is a bit risky with very little on the line for the Packers besides maybe one seed difference in the playoffs.

Re: my earlier post – Didn’t get Orton off waivers, someone else had priority apparently. Leaves me with the following waiver choices as an option rather than Manning:
Freeman, Sanchez, Leinart…
Wish I’d gotten Orton…

I craptastically gave away my spot in the Week 16 Championship game but our league plays through Week 17 for our Points race. 2nd Place pays out $200…

Good luck!

Thanks! As long as my team doesn’t lay an egg this week…
WR help!
R. Wayne
D. Bowe
H. Nicks
D. Aromashodu
R. Meachum
p.s. would you pick up and play McGahee (v. OAK) in lieu of T.Jones (v. CIN)?
e-roc 12:44 pm on 12/31/2009 Permalink
by the way, I need three WRs…
Brandon 10:24 pm on 1/01/2010 Permalink
At receiver, go with Bowe, Aromashodu and Meachem. As for your running back question, stick with Thomas Jones, who should have a solid game with the Jets playoff hopes possibly on the line.

Hearing Donald Brown might not get the bulk of the Colts carries. Should I be looking at other options or wait for more updates?
Brandon 10:12 pm on 1/01/2010 Permalink |
From what I’m hearing Donald Brown could be a pretty risky play. Third stringer Mike Hart could see most of the action in the backfield for the Colts this Sunday and he’s worth a shot against a bad Bills run defense.

Hey Guys. I need 1 QB from Brees or Favre.
2 RBs from Deangelo Williams, Cadillac Williams, Jamaal Charles, Addai
2 WRs from Fitzgerald, Jennings, Ochocinco
1 TE from Gates of Finley
Thanks
Brandon 10:20 pm on 1/01/2010 Permalink |
At quarterback, go with Brett Favre. For running back, go with Cadillac and Charles. At receiver, go with Fitzgerald and Jennings. Finally, at tight end, go with Jermichael Finley, as there’s worries that Gates will play very much his game.

I need help deciding which WRs to put in for week 17. I’ve got
Randy Moss
Derrick Mason
Devin Aromashodu
Mike Sims-Walker
Which 3 do you think I should start?
Brandon 10:09 pm on 1/01/2010 Permalink |
It’s hard to go with Randy Moss with all the questions on how long Belichick will actually play his starters this weekend. Go with Mason, Aromashodu and Sims-Walker.
