Let's have a look at the Raiders running backs!
And while we're at it, let's stab ourselves repeatedly in the cornea! Sadly, though, fantasy managers don't have a choice; when the #1 RB on any team, even the Raiders, has back problems that are bad enough for the coaching staff to start singing the praises of a backup named Adimchinobe Echemandu, we're forced to pay attention. If Jordan is still hurt to start the season, the Raiders are in a pretty significant bind; backup Dominic Rhodes will start the season on a 4-game suspension. This would essentially transform two guys who normally wouldn't show up on draft day into potential late-round, 5th-RB options, depending on how strong your sense of smell is:
Michael Bush: Depending on how you feel about running backs with horrifying leg injuries in their past and metal rods in their tibias, Bush might even look like a bona fide late-round sleeper these days. If he hadn't broken his leg in the first game of his 2006 season at Louisville, we might be talking about the "two Bushes" as the most exciting young players in the NFL, and Dubya would be clapping with joy like a seal every Sunday in between spoonfuls of Apple Jacks. He had 128 yards and two TDs in the first half of the game before his leg went crunch, and was a favorite to win the Heisman that year. It doesn't look likely that he'll participate much in training camp, but for the risk-tolerant he's still worthy of a late-round pick given his potential and the overall crappiness of the rest of the Raider RB corps.
Justin Fargas: Yep, he's always injured, but he isn't hurt right now and that could be good enough to make him the starter come week 1. He's still the speediest back they've got, and I'm not buying into the Echemandu thing yet, so I wouldn't be at all shocked to see him start a few games. It won't last long - he'll probably get hurt, and even if he doesn't, Jordan's contract means he'll be the starter once he's healthy, and Rhodes and Bush both have a better shot to be involved later in the season. The only reason you should consider drafting Fargas at this point is if you think you might need a spot RB start in the first four weeks of the season due to bye weeks or injury concerns.
