Cut Your Losses: Players to Drop, Week 5

As always, here are the guys who have outlived their usefulness completely in shallower leagues, and should be at least heading toward your chopping block in deeper leagues.

Tatum Bell, RB, DET: If you've got the roster space to hold onto him in case Kevin Jones gets injured (which, history suggests, he probably will), then feel free to keep him, but know that you won't have any reason to start him unless something happens to Jones. Jones is the much better goal-line rusher, and while they're splitting the rest of the carries up the middle so far, that doesn't seem likely to be the case for long as Jones continues to improve.

DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR: In a situation similar to Bell's - he's clearly the less-favored option in the Carolina backfield, with DeShaun Foster getting most of the action (despite his acute chronic fumbilitis). Unless Foster's fumbling problem gets worse, or he gets hurt, Williams isn't going to be worth starting.

Matt Leinart, QB, ARI: I liked Leinart to have a breakout season this year, but with Kurt Warner playing like his old self lately, it's going to be tough for Hollywood Matt to step out of the old man's shadow. Even if he does get his job back, you have to figure his confidence is more or less shot.

DeShawn Wynn, RB, GB: I wasn't a believer when he was the hottest waiver-wire pickup in week 2, and now I'm glad I didn't waste my waiver priority on him. Green Bay looks good so far this season, but it's mostly thanks to an improved defense and Favre's stellar play. They still can't run the ball, and when they do, they spread the carries around. Wynn's 2.0 ypc last week certainly didn't earn him any extra touches in the coming weeks.

Ronald Curry, WR, OAK: I know he's had two nice games, but he's a mirage. He's still the #2 WR on a team that will not consistently throw the ball this season. I'd hang on to Porter because he's the go-to guy, but despite the Raiders' improvement, they're still a basement-level offense that warrants only a passing glance from fantasy players.

Brian Griese, QB, CHI: Clearly, this is a team that just has trouble passing the ball. It's nice that they're talking about getting Greg Olsen more involved, and that'll probably help... a little... but when it comes down to it, are you really going to start a Bears quarterback? (Their last reliable fantasy starter was Vince McMahon. I wish I was joking.)

Randy McMichael, TE, STL: I'm tired of waiting for him to develop chemistry with whoever that guy wearing Marc Bulger's uniform is.
