Ask the Geeks: Week 9 (Part 4)

And some final, last minute answers for you...

Pat asks: Two tough calls this week and I can't decide who to start: Derek Anderson against Seattle or Drew Brees against Jacksonville. For running backs, which two: Willie Parker, Laurence Maroney or LenDale White. I can't decide. What do you think?

Brandon's take: At this point you can't afford to sit Derek Anderson. The guy has been a monster all year long, throwing for 10 touchdowns over his past four games. Get him in your lineup. As for running backs, put in Parker and White. Maroney is too inconsistent at this point and the other two should have solid games.

Matt's take: There's no reason to sit the #2 QB in fantasy football (!!!) against the 'Hawks. And sit Maroney.

CH asks: Do I start Thomas Jones or Lamont Jordan?

Brandon's take: Tough one here. LaMont Jordan has the much better matchup, but after his back injury he just hasn't been the same guy as the man who started the season. Put Thomas Jones in your lineup.

Matt's take: At this point I'd start just about anyone over Jordan.

Joe asks: Who should i start this week at my 2nd wr spot behind wayne, Driver or Evans?

Brandon's take: I'd go with the homerun threat, Lee Evans. Over the past two games, Evans has out-received Driver by about 160 yards and this week the Bills are playing the Bungles. This appears to be an excellent matchup for him.

Mike asks: For week 9, I have Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, Hines Ward, and Marques Colston. I start two but who?? All have positives and negatives. Help! Thanks.

Brandon's take: Welker is a must at this point, as he's on FIRE the last 3 games with 29 receptions (insanity). As for your last spot (it pains me to tell you to bench my boy Brandon Marshall), but I'd go with Hines Ward, who appears to be Roethlisberger's main man since returning from his injury.

Matt's take: Actually, as well as Welker's been playing, I almost always prefer to start a QB's go-to guy. I'd go with Colston and Ward.

Brian asks: Have a trade/don't trade question. I have Steven Jackson, Westbrook, Travis Henry (an owner DROPPED him last week!) and ryan grant as my RBs. Harrison, Holt, Reggie Brown, and Vincent Jackson are my WRs. Another owner will give me TO for Henry. I think this is a pretty good trade for me since Henry will sit quite a bit anyways and my recievers have been underwhelming. So should I do this trade?

Brandon's take: I think you should be safe to make this trade. Marvin Harrison is on the downslide it appears, with his injury troubles and possibly old age catching up to him. Between Jackson, Westbrook and Grant, you should be able to start a solid RB core each week, so Henry is not absolutely necessary (plus he's got legal and injury troubles of his own). This would drastically improve your receiver squad, something that looks necessary at this point. Pull the trigger!

Matt's take: Are you kidding me? Make the trade! Travis Henry's about 50-50 at this point to be suspended by the fantasy football playoffs (though he might be able to push the suspension back further with appeals). Don't wait until the hammer comes down on him and his value's reduced to zero.

Nish asks: I am in a RB Bind. The league I am in allows us to carry over points into a bye week if we elect to before the game starts. Last week, I elected to carry over Brandon Jacobs' points into this week. Now I am in a bind as we can only start 2 RBs and one of the starters is filled. Who do I start as my second RB?

J.Addai (Ind), K.Jones (Det)

1 pt for every 20 yds rushing/receiving and 6 pts / TD. Please help.

Matt's take: I'm huge on Kevin Jones at this point, and he's up against the worst rush defense in the league this week, while Addai's up against the obviously-tough Patriots defense. Start KJ.

Wow, Drew Brees must have been offended that we suggested starting Derek Anderson over him...as he BLEW UP! Maybe the Saints are back. Colston went nuts too.

No complaints here... I'll take being wrong when I've got Brees on two teams.
