Ask the Geeks: Week 9 (Part 2)
Brandon's take: Although you most likely spent a top 5 pick on him, I think you might want to bench Frank Gore this week. Addai is a no brainer to start. Kevin Jones has improved each week since returning from injury and goes against a terrible Denver rush defense this week (I've also projected him as a "stud" this week). The final decision is really between Barber and Gore. Barber proved that he can run against even a good rush defense two weeks ago when he almost hit 100 yards against Minnesota and should do well again this week. Gore on the other hand could potentially not even play this week with an ankle injury, but if he does I wouldn't expect all that great numbers anyways.
Brandon's take: This is an interesting one. All things considered even, you would always start Romo over Rivers. Howevvveerrr...Rivers is going against the worst pass defense in the NFL this weekend (Vikings). Even considering that though, I'd still keep Romo in there. I see the Cowboys going big against their conference rivals (Eagles) and Romo should have a solid game. The Chargers will most likely take a decent lead early against the Vikings and I'd figure it to be an LT-fest from that point on.
Brandon's take: I'm actually liking your RB combination of LT and KJ at this point. I thought Jones would be a bust this season, but he is proving me more wrong each week and this week he makes for a great play. If you're really looking to upgrade at RB though, you might look at Larry Johnson or Brandon Jacobs (both who have played well recently, but didn't start off great because of injury or bad play). As for team defenses...the Giants should be solid for the rest of the year. While they maybe give up some points, they get sacks like crazy and a fair amount of turnovers, which help a lot. I would stick with them. In general Yahoo! scoring, I believe they're the second ranked defense, only behind the Chargers (by 1 measely point).
Aaron asks: At RB, I've got Kevin Jones starting. Who do I start between Rudi Johnson, Kenny Watson and Thomas Jones in Week 9? Do I wait until game time on the two Bengals?
Also, at WR. I'm starting TO. But I've got to decide between Dwayne Bowe, Shaun McDonald and Kevin Walter for the other spot. Who do I pick?
And finally, I've got a WR/RB combo spot, from the above who should I start there? My initial thought is to go with Kenny Watson at RB and Kevin Walter at WR because of the matchups. And Shaun McDonald at the combo--only because he won't be covered by Bly or Bailey of Denver.
Brandon's take: Wow, everyone seems to have Kevin Jones this week. Anyways, I'd start Kevin Jones and whoever looks to be the guy to get the most carries for the Bengals when it gets closer to game time. If they're saying Rudi Johnson is near 100%, go with him. The Bills are bad against the run too, so potentially Watson and Johnson could both have solid afternoons.
In terms of your WR/RB concerns, it really comes down to playing 2 of the following 3: Thomas Jones, Dwayne Bowe and Kevin Walter (don't play McDonald). Oakland has been solid against the pass this year and are ranked number 3 in the NFL in terms of yards/game. I'd go with Thomas Jones in the RB/WR slot and Dwayne Bowe in the other WR spot.

Got a RB dilemma... I have LJ, Maurice Jones-Drew, LenDale White, and I just grabbed Chris Henry off waivers this week. I start 2 RBs, and I'm thinking about going with LJ and LenDale, and leaving MJD's inconsistency on the bench. Do you agree?
Also, I start 2 WRs and am thinking about Wes Welker and Santonio Holmes, while benching Shaun McDonald and Derrick Mason. Any objections?
Thanks for the help!
