Hopefully some of the advice we offered last week helped your team to a 1-0 record to start the season, but if not, even more reason for you to heed our advice! Anyways, here are a few questions to get us started for week two. Remember to send us any more questions you might have here or you can leave questions via comments and we’ll try to respond to those too…
Cynthia asks…
I’m wondering who to start this week…Larry Johnson against Raiders although he did not produce at all last week or Cedric Benson @ Packers.
Brandon’s take: Larry Johnson was horrendous last week, but it was against the Ravens, so there’s still hope that he can produce a bit better against lesser defenses. However, I still think Cedric Benson will put up better numbers than LJ this week, as he’s frequently used in the passing game along with getting plenty of carries on the ground. I can’t imagine ever recommending you start Cedric Benson over Larry Johnson a few years back, but this year that is the reality.
Adam asks…
Alright experts, question arises – I have Kurt Warner as my starter. After watching the garbage play by Arizona against SF, I’m skeptical at best. I have Schaub as a backup. Able to pick up Flacco or Garrard. Requesting sage advice!
Brandon’s take: I’m really liking Joe Flacco this week against the Chargers (I’m starting him in one of my leagues over Schaub actually), but then again I don’t have Kurt Warner as my starter. I’d give Warner another shot this week, even against Jacksonville. Anquan Boldin seems to be feeling a bit better this week, so he should give Warner some more help and it’s not like he was completely awful (see Cutler, Delhomme) last week, throwing for almost 300 yards and a touchdown. If he can just find the endzone one more time, those are pretty solid numbers. I’d pick up Flacco if you have a roster spot to spare, but even with him, go with Warner for this week.
Suey asks…
should i start darren mcfadden or julius jones in week 2?
Brandon’s take: I like McFadden this week against the Chiefs, the only problem is that he’ll be splitting carries with Michael Bush and Justin Fargas, who is returning this week from his hamstring injury. Julius Jones was great in week one and even though the 49er’s played tough against the run last week (they were bad against the pass though), he should have a solid game as he’s a better runner than anything the Cardinals had to offer.

Santana Moss, Devon Hester, Davone Bess

Not sure exactly if that’s a question (or what the question is), but I like Santana Moss the best out of that group this week against the Rams.

Hi Guys, I’m debate who to start at RB this week: Ray Rice, Marion Barber or Caddy Williams. What do the experts think?
Brandon 7:10 am on 9/18/2009 Permalink |
From best to worst: Ray Rice, Marion Barber, and Cadillac Williams…start Rice and Barber if you need two guys, Rice if you just need one.

Hey Thanks! Yeah I’m starting 1, which will be Rice…thanks

What would you do for a WR2 with these choices(Non PPR) – Earl Bennett, Chris Henry, Antonio Bryant or as a free agent I could pick up Stuckey, Clayton(Balt), Murphy, Meachem, or Deverey Henderson? I have Colston as WR1.
Brandon 11:45 am on 9/18/2009 Permalink |
If you’re feeling a little risky, you might go with Devery Henderson, but you already have one Saints receiver and might not want to put all your eggs in one basket. The safer route would be with Mark Clayton or Earl Bennett. Clayton plays the easier defense (SD) of the two this week. If you have someone to drop to pick up Clayton, go with him, otherwise just go with Bennett and hope Cutler can kick it in gear for the big game this weekend against the Steelers!

My WR2 choices this week: Lee Evans, Donald Driver, Justin Gage and I can pick up Earl Bennet, Randle El, Percy Harvin or Patrick Crayton.
P.S. Start Flacco over Rivers, right?
Brandon 3:46 pm on 9/18/2009 Permalink |
I’d take the gamble with Flacco and hope he can duplicate his performance from last week. As for receivers, Percy Harvin might be a sneaky play if you’re feeling risky, otherwise I’d recommend going with Donald Driver as the Packers (at home) should have a big game against the Bengals. If you have roster spots you can use, pick up Earl Bennett though, as I think he’ll be a solid play later in the season when the Bears play some lesser defenses.

I have a WR and a FLEX Position to fill…. I am considering the following players. Felix jones (rb) vs Giants, Fred Jackson (rb) vs Bucs, Julius Jones (rb) at SF, Earl Bennet (WR) vs Pitt, Donald Driver (wr) vs CIN, Pierre Garcon (wr) at Miami.
