A few quick free agent pickups, and a couple to ignore
This'll be a short post, but I just wanted to point out a few guys who, if your league doesn't convert all free agents to waivers at 1pm on Sundays, you should pick up right now, and who you don't need to waste your time on. We'll be discussing these guys in more detail later in the week in the waiver-wire post.
Donte Stallworth: I came close to dropping this guy a couple of weeks ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to give up on a player with his talent and Tom Brady throwing him the rock. Many people went ahead and dropped him, and they're regretting that decision today after his 136-yard performance and 2nd game in a row with a TD.
Wes Welker: If Stallworth isn't available in your league, maybe Welker is. Right now I wouldn't mind having any Tom Brady receiver on my team. Whatever happened to Brady being the spiritual leader who persevered despite not quite being blessed with Peyton Manning-type talent? The guy's playing like a Greek god (you should have seen Apollo's spiral - thing of beauty).
DeAngelo Williams: He's worth a pickup after that performance, but temper your enthusiasm unless (until?) DeShaun Foster gets hurt.
Jason Campbell: The fact that he played as well as he did in Lambeau should catch your attention. He might be hitting his stride.
HOLD OFF ON THE FOLLOWING PLAYERS! These guys had big games in week 6, but they're fool's gold.
Kevin Walter: Andre Johnson is expected to be ready for week 7, which will knock Walter out of the starting lineup. Also, Houston was playing Jacksonville's tough rush D, and their running corps was banged up, so they went to the air more than they will going forward.
Devin Hester: His 81 yards and a touchdown came on one play. In other words, he was one play away from posting a goose egg. Does this sound like someone you'll ever be able to start with confidence this season?
