Five Potential Shockers for Week 7

Aside from my call on David Garrard, my week 6 shockers were a big letdown after my surprising prescience in week 5. But I'm feeling it this week, baby. I get extra karma on these picks because I'm going to Orchard Park on Sunday to watch my Bills get slaughtered by put up a valiant struggle against the Ravens.

Javon Walker: More bad news

Sorry to all those Javon Walker owners out there (and the Jay Cutler...and maybe Brandon Marshall owners as well), but it looks like you won't have him back for a bit longer. Coach Shanahan reported today that Walker will need surgery on his knee and will be out "for a few weeks".

Studs and Duds: Week 7

Well, my picks last week didn't turn out all that spectacular, due to sub-par games from Najeh Davenport and Shaun Alexander, as well unexpectedly big games from Jay Cutler, Ben Roethlisberger and Marion Barber III. Using my un-biased scoring system, I finished the week 12-10-4, only slightly above 50%. This week though, I plan to return to my Nostradamus-like abilities and give you some solid suggestions of who might be worth starting and who might be worth sitting this week...

Alert: Michael Bennett traded to Tampa Bay

The Kansas City Chiefs traded backup running back Michael Bennett to Tampa Bay today. For all Earnest Graham owners, this immediately decreases the value of your running back (if he had any at this point) and makes Bennett a viable fantasy player (even if this guy disagrees) for the first time in a few years. If you're hurting for running back depth, you might want to pick up Bennett or put in a waiver claim, as he should be starting for the Buc's within a week or so.

Chris Chambers traded to San Diego Chargers: Fantasy Impact

Great trade for the Chargers, and even better for his fantasy owners. Chambers may be just the kind of receiver Rivers needs to take the next step. It's hard to say how good Chambers is; he's never had a decent QB throwing him the ball. This has all the makings of a situation where a player with elite talent is beyond determined to prove that he's got it.

Kevin Everett's walking!

This has absolutely nothing to do with fantasy football, but who cares: Against all initial odds and expectations, Everett is walking unassisted today. This made my day.

Waiver-Wire Pickups, Keeper Sleepers and Spot Starts: Week 7

It's getting to the point in the season where it is becoming more and more difficult to find a good player on waivers. At this point you're most likely looking to find replacements for bye weeks and injuries that your players may have suffered, and even that can prove to be a daunting task for fantasy managers. If you're basing the long term success on the following players, you're most likely in big trouble. However, they could fill in for a week or two to keep your team afloat until your players return from bye weeks and injuries.
