Tomlinson owners: I sorta kinda feel your pain

Pujomlinson?I play other fantasy sports, but I don't get too excited about them. Fantasy baseball and basketball are fine diversions, but they just don't satisfy that inner gambler who wants the instant high or low you get from 1:00-4:00 on a Sunday afternoon during fantasy football season, when all your predictions and trash talk from the week before either vindicate you or make you look like a bumbling fool.

Random football thoughts

I've been watching SportsCenter religiously since the beginning of the NFL preseason and I have to admit, my least favorite part is when "Fantasy Guru" Matthew Berry comes on. Is it just me? Or does he sound like a whiny little kid trying to get his way or something. Even if I agree with any of his advice, I hate myself for it afterwards. Can't they get someone a little more energetic or entertaining to represent the fantasy football world? On the other end of the spectrum is the Fantasy Football Guys, who sound pretty much like if Opie and Anthony had a bastard child with the Mike and Mike show on ESPN2...but just talked about fantasy football. I can't say I enjoy listening to them either, but at least their childish joking around is somewhat amusing at times. Matthew Berry is never amusing...NEVER!

Proceed With Caution: Busts/Weak Plays for Week 3 2007

Marshawn Lynch, RB, BUF: Look, I think the rookie is really good, and I think he's going to be a top-10 back in fantasy drafts next season. But his fate is tied to that of poor Buffalo, whose soul-crushingly tough schedule has forced Lynch to face two of the best rushing defenses in the league in Denver and Pittsburgh, and the beat goes on in week 3 as the Bills take on New England and their dominant rush defense (#1 in the NFL so far). There are few running backs that I'd consider a solid start against the Pats, and Marshawn isn't one of them. Yet.

Ask the Geeks: Week 3 (Part 1)

It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for time for the first of our bi-weekly column, Ask the Geeks. This week has proven to be a pretty busy week in the mail room, but keep them coming and we'll try to help you make some of those more difficult roster decisions.

Cut Your Losses: Players to drop, week 3

D.J. Hackett, WR, SEA: High ankle sprains are usually bad news (Michael Turner's recent quick return from one notwithstanding), and this one sounds worse than most. Hackett hasn't done anything to prove that he's worth holding onto for a month or longer. If you're really willing to wait that long for a receiver with upside, check to see if the Bengals' Chris Henry (suspension) is available.

Waiver-Wire Pickups, Keeper Sleepers and Spot Starts: Week 3

After missing on a few suggestions last week (i.e. Michael Pittman, Patrick Crayton and Arnaz Battle), I vow to only make good suggestions this week! Let's keep in mind that I did have a few suggestions (although some might have been pretty obvious), with Brandon Marshall, LaMont Jordan, Brandon Stokley and Derrick Ward, that worked out pretty well and should continue to work out for at least a couple more weeks. One change you'll notice with this week's post (and will continue for the rest of the season) is that I just combined all the suggestions into one "super" list. I figured that breaking the waiver-wire pickups and spot starts into two groups doesn't always make sense, so you'll now just see a list of players that should be able to make an impact in the next week and beyond, along with my explanation of why they've made my prestigious list for the week. I will break them up by position however, something that wasn't done last week. So without further delay, let's get to those recommendations...

J.P. Losman: Battling with Jauron? Kind of classless?

I'll address those two questions in order, because order is good.

Our own harshest critics: Week 2

It's Tuesday, so that means it's time to take a look back at the things we said over the past week, see how close we came to what actually happened, and occasionally throw up all over the keyboard.

I hate Chris Brown

I have a confession to make. Despite my own doubts about Brown this week, I just couldn't shake the nagging thought that maybe, just maybe, he'd replicate his week 1 performance, and I'd feel dumb having a hot player on my bench. So, at the very last minute, I stuck him in the flex spot in one of my leagues... only watch him prove me right and get me a whopping 3.6 fantasy points.

And by Fantasy Game of the Week we obviously meant CIN @ CLE?

As I'm watching the Colts play a pretty tight game against the Titans down here in Puerto Rico, I'm seeing updates flash across the bottom of the screen for the other games. At first I don't make much of the Cincinnati at Cleveland game, which ended the first quarter at 7-6, Cincinnati's advantage. However, having a few players on my fantasy teams in that game (Housh, Rudi-J and Kellen Winslow) and a few on opponents teams (Palmer, Chad-Jo, Housh and Jamal Lewis), I started paying a little more attention...
