Waiver-Wire Pickups, Keeper Sleepers and Spot Starts: Week 3

After missing on a few suggestions last week (i.e. Michael Pittman, Patrick Crayton and Arnaz Battle), I vow to only make good suggestions this week! Let's keep in mind that I did have a few suggestions (although some might have been pretty obvious), with Brandon Marshall, LaMont Jordan, Brandon Stokley and Derrick Ward, that worked out pretty well and should continue to work out for at least a couple more weeks. One change you'll notice with this week's post (and will continue for the rest of the season) is that I just combined all the suggestions into one "super" list. I figured that breaking the waiver-wire pickups and spot starts into two groups doesn't always make sense, so you'll now just see a list of players that should be able to make an impact in the next week and beyond, along with my explanation of why they've made my prestigious list for the week. I will break them up by position however, something that wasn't done last week. So without further delay, let's get to those recommendations...

Goodbye fantasy baseball, and good riddance:
- ryan: You're not enjoying it because you're playing head to head. Roto is the only way to play.
- ffexchange: The only way to play fantasy baseball is to ditch the head to head and play with cumulative stats. Far more involved and you don't have to deal with stuff like this. I actually feel head to head is bad for fantasy football as well, I have finished out of the playoffs before...
Studs and Duds - Week 1: Opening Day edition!:
- Brandon: @Jason: Yeah looks like my prediction wasn't so accurate, but it didn't look like the Giants were in a rush to use Jacobs around the end zone, which could be concerning. The Redskins just looked horrible on offense and I'm glad I own zero of their players on any of my fantasy teams. Jacobs is...
- Jason: well, Washington looked terrible. Hard to say if the Giants are good or the Redskins are that bad. Love watching Jacobs run, though. Hope he stays healthy.
- Brandon: Hmm...Jacobs seems to be ignoring my prediction for the most part. Also, I didn't know the Washington offense would be so bad this year!
- Brandon: @Jason: That's true...and it was one yard shy of his career best apparently. However, he got 25 of the teams 28 rushing attempts, something I see changing a bit in this one with Ahmad Bradshaw helping out. We'll see though...
- Jason: 2007 Week 15 Brandon Jacobs ran for 130 yards against the Redskins and 3 catches for 30 yards. Game was at NY.
